I am a writer, researcher and podcaster with an academic background in literary criticism. I have a particular interest in the Gothic, horror and the ways in which literature, film and other popular media intersect and engage with cultural narratives and political discourses related to race, antisemitism and other forms of hate and prejudice.
I am currently working with the Holocaust Educational Trust as a Freelance Educator on their Testimony 360: People and Places of the Holocaust programme. Testimony 360 uses interactive digital eyewitness testimony and virtual reality to teach students about the Holocaust.
I gained my PhD in English Literature from the University of Sheffield in 2022 where I currently work as a Research Associate on a project exploring the ways that Gothic and horror narratives influence, and are influenced by, discourses of anti-Black racism. This project focuses on British and American traditions of racism across the eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries and the primary output is an educational Video Game entitled Coded Black.
In 2025 I published my first monograph The Eternal Wanderer: Christian Negotiations in the Gothic Mode, which explores how the antisemitic Wandering Jew myth is utilised in Gothic literature. I am also the co-author, with Dr Kathleen Hudson, of Religious Horror and the Eco-Gothic (2024).
I have written several other articles and book chapters that explore various aspects of the Gothic, with a broad focus on Judaism and Jewishness in Gothic and horror narratives. I am also, with Dr Lauren Nixon, the co-creator and co-host of The Ghoul Guides, a podcast and YouTube show dedicated to exploring various topics related to the Gothic.

I have also worked closely with the Rosenbach Museum in Philadelphia, USA on their visualised podcast discussions of classic works of Gothic literature (including Dracula, Frankenstein and Jane Eyre), and have worked with Eureka Entertainment and its Masters of Cinema Series on a number of video essays for releases including Doctor Vampire and Heart of Stone.
I am currently based in Sheffield, UK, where I live with my partner and my cat, Buster Keaton (who lives up to his name).
